Experiential Learning

At Washington College, we get that learning shouldn't only happen in a classroom. That's why we offer internships, research fellowships, and countless other opportunities for hands-on learning outside of class.

Gain real world experience your very first year.

Your hands-on experience begins with your very first day of Orientation Explore! and continues through the completion of your Senior Capstone Experience.

Every step in between is shaped by you. Dive into one of our three signature centers, take an internship researching alongside your favorite professor, and travel the world. No matter what you decide, your Washington College family is here to help set you up for success inside and outside the classroom.

Washington College’s Starr Center explores the American experience in all its diversity and complexity, seeks creative approaches to illuminating the past, and inspires thoughtful conversation informed by history. We offer college students dynamic opportunities for hands-on learning and off-campus experiences unequaled at other small liberal arts schools.

Intern

Internships

Internships are an important part of the student’s career journey as they move through the four-year developmental process. Research demonstrates that students who perform at least one internship while in college find meaningful work and can match their skills once they have completed their Bachelor’s degree. Many employers convert interns into full-time employees upon graduation.
